Jed & Hera. Oh gods, Jed & Hera. Their new album is absolutely stunning, if, maybe at times, a little too cutesy and sweet. Hera has been performing for years across the world, and is a fantastic songwriter (also a friend of Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer. Holy shit). I'm seeing her play on Friday, which will be great. Got to hang out with her for an afternoon a few months ago, too. Real nice gal. Make sure to check out their podcast from last week's show.

French for Rabbits are a pretty goddamn nice folky act. The song linked here is a new one, and it is nice.

Lorde is pretty well known outside of NZ. This track was released just a week ago, and so far (I'm actually listening to it for the first time now) is better than most of the stuff on her EP. She's developing an actual style now, which makes me like her that little bit more (never been a huge fan of her anyhow).

Popera! One of my picks this week. The track is a sad one. Nice piano sorta thing with some sweet vocals.

The Worthless Son-In-Laws. My other pick this week, essentially New Zealand Americana. The first line references Littleton Harbour, not far from where I used to live. It's sort of - well, used to be, before the earthquake, dunno about now - a really tight local scene in Christchurch.
