scarp: One reason that I find Occupy Wallstreet so promising is that it has become a platform for addressing many of the major issues which have been relegated to the political back burner for so long. The lack of a "central message" has let it function as a mercurial vessel through which issues like this can become a priority, if only for a moment, rather than a background concern. It is a conduit of infinite bandwidth.

This is why I feel that comparisons to the Tea Party are unjustified. The Tea Party has a direct message while Occupy Wallstreet has a broad and malleable theme. The state of things today no longer call for single-issue protest groups but rather an approach which examines the big picture all at once. Our problems are multidimensional and therefor our solutions should be, too.
