We’d like to think all people are treated equally in America. In fact, we think our system is set up to make sure that happens. There are, though, people who are not protected.

If the pollsters are right, here’s something you probably don’t know: it’s perfectly legal to discriminate against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. A Gallup poll reported nearly nine out of ten people think LGBT people are already protected.

They are not.
