"I say all this because Clarke goes beyond writing about a magical England of the early 1800's: her style suggests that she has spent a good deal of time there, and gotten in the habit of writing and thinking as though it were her home." -Luc Reid

This is one of my favorite books that I've read in the last 10 years. I was completely taken in to the world Clarke creates in 19th century England. While reading it, it seems all too plausible that a Raven King once existed and reigned over all magic. -Such a fantastic work of fiction.

The link is to a review that I think does the book well. Anyone else out there fans of practical magic?

cgod: I was disappointed in the ending, but liked the book.

I always liked Tim Powers, and Neil Gaiman's versions of magik interlaced in real world situations.
