I suggest you read the comic first, than read this. You can still understand it without the information I'm going to give, and I suggest you do that. Now. Go. I'll wait.

There. Good, right? Now a little background: so there's this comic called Watchmen. Pretty good comic, twelve issues long. It's about super-heroes if they existed in the real world. Cool idead, right? In it, there's this guy called Rorshach and he's a super-hero, but he's kinda psychotic. Kinda like Batman if Batman only thought about being Batman all the time. Rorshach's the guy who comes in at the end of our dog story, with the trench coat and the white mask. He's there because he's investigating the kidnapping of a little girl which he believes was perpetrated by the dog owner. When Rorshach comes into the house, he finds the girl's underwear in the stove and dogs gnawing on a bone.

The story is, actually, a flashback in the comic. Rorshach's this silent, monossilabic type. This story shows he wasn't always like that, but went crazy during his super-heroing. You can understand more reading the comic, which I suggest you should.
