I will plug, as always, that Adam Cadre (author/curator of this contest) has written some of the most inventive and gripping Interactive Fiction of this century, namely "Photopia", and "Endless, Nameless", which I can not recommend enough.

Not super relevant, but hey, text-based games never really will be.
