I know thenewgreen and others are fond of the british "Seven Up" series whereby Michael Apted peeks in on a cross-section of British kids every seven years as they age. Which is interesting and illuminating and well worth watching if you haven't.

Something to keep in mind, though, is that those kids are absolutely riding the crest of the Post WWII Economic Expansion with all the surpluses it entails.

As it turns out Bill Moyers visited two working-class Union families in 1991, 1992, 1993, 2000, 2012 and 2013.

It's a different sort of series.

I've mentioned The Unwinding before. I wholeheartedly recommend it. If you don't have time for the book, though, here's 90 minutes that give you a glimpse.

I'm actually a few chapters into The Unwinding. I enjoy the biographies but I was hoping he'd reflect on them more. What makes the book great for you?
