I find it strange why people always attack Adobe's lack of support for Flash. They have repeatedly over the years told people they don't want anyone using it and they want you to use Adobe AIR to produce HTML5. Granted, it's a promotion of their newer product but I think they are fully aware of the dangers of Flash and they as a company don't find it in their culture to patch security vulnerabilities because they themselves find the platform junk.

That being said, Flash will be around for a long time even if browsers start to block it. Many software products are having a hard time switching to HTML5 from Flash, much like many software products couldn't (and still haven't) gotten off web based Java code. To be clear, I'm talking about enterprise internal software not web, forward facing stuff here.

So Flash is the next Java. Flash will remain supported by browsers because of these enterprise products but hopefully the average user won't have to deal with it as much.

EDIT: I'm talking about the Java web plugin to be clear. Java as a language for GUI development, enterprise coding, and server-side Tomcat applications is where it found it's niche and is still relevant in those fields.
