When The Verge first started, it was refreshing in its breadth and scope. It was highly NOW, modern, digital, cutting edge, but it carried a wide variety of news. It wasn't just about the latest Android release.
Sadly, it now sucks. Almost entirely. (They cover all the same tech news everybody else is covering, and bring nothing new or interesting to the conversation.)
But this article - about how Michelle Obama has embraced social media and had numerous successes with it - is actually FANTASTIC reporting! This is what it used to be like, kids, when there were actual journalists who did news reporting. It was interesting, insightful, educational, and was fun to read.
If I were 10 years younger, I'd totally be on Vine. Hell, 4 years ago, I would have had an account and been doing all kinds of insane shit up there. But now? Not so much.
So the article is also interesting to me, as I see how newer social media tools are being used to connect with audiences in new ways.
I'm just... really impressed. This is a great article, about a really cool woman, doing groovy shit with technology.
That's a win on all fronts for me.
