I cant wait till someone with some prejudice and a knack for violence put his hand on the algorithm. I bet it can detect your religious belief, and your sexual preference too.
But it will probably ever be used just to sell skin care product.... And somehow it's kind of even more depressing.
If you write a post in a forum that is more than 200 words, a computer can analyze that post and tell the following:
1. Are you male or female.
2. Where went to grade school.
3. Did you go to a public or private school.
4. Your country of origin.
5. Your income level.
6. The area of the world you went to college, and in some cases the state in which you attended school.
With that data, the author of the post can be narrowed considerably. With your IP address they know where the post originated and can then data mine Facebook etc and find you.
Google is making it harder and harder to stay anon. From 2011 and it is getting worse.
You may think that you are a unique and special person, but you are not. Human fit in patterns, and those patterns are now well known and used by everyone from law enforcement, employment agencies, media, ad networks etc. Pinker's Book is closing in on 20 years old.
