NASA's Mars rover, Opportunity just celebrated its 12th anniversary on Mars—a mission that was originally meant to last just 90 days. Although recently eclipsed in the news by its bigger brother Curiosity, Opportunity is still going strong and making valuable scientific discoveries.

Somehow I missed that anniversary of the Opportunity landing last week.

Those pictures are really great. It feels odd that Opportunity and Spirit were so long ago. They feel much more recent. It's really great that kids are growing up today in a world where they have easy and ongoing access to near real-time pictures from another planet.
