I have been listening to Terry Gross for years and have a love hate relationship with her program. She gets fantastic guests and at times, I think she's a wonderful interviewer. However, often I find that she has an agenda and an answer in her mind Prior to her question. If the guest doesn't give her the answer she is looking for she pushes and seems to think she and not the guest knows the proper response. -this irks me.

But she's pretty great.

I think the most underrated (at least among the people that would herald Terry Gross or the Charlie Rose's of the world as the best interviewers) is Howard Stern. Forget about the prostitutes or the "whack pack" and listen to him interview people. He has a way of disarming them and getting at the meat. He's the best imo.
