Service

Raise your hand to the sky,
  I need to slap it.
I need to pat you on the back,
  And say, “Thanks!”

  For my freedom,
  For your service,
For my right they never took,

  You took them back!
So I can give them away.

They say the world is scary,
Trailing every shining day is someone,
That you must have killed by now,
And so I thank you every day.

To the greatness of the flag,
  I can sacrifice my thoughts.
And sing our songs the loudest.
Cheer the freedoms that I’ve lost.

  I can act a Patriot,
  And we can play along,
And they can scan our bodies,
  Looking for fictitious bombs.

They can listen to our phone calls,
  To find seditious thoughts.
We will slap high five and thank them,
  Cheering freedoms that we’ve lost.
