So over the weekend on our way back home, my girlfriend and I decided to stop at the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, which also houses the Apartheid Museum. The museum is filled with history and is a really good walk through, however the main attraction is the sculpture of Nelson Mandela that is only properly view-able from a certain distance. As you can see below, if you are too close to it you will only see a jumble of steel, and if you are too far you will see a clump of steel.

I made a short video on how the sculpture comes into perspective as you get a certain distance away from it. It really is quite amazing!

From the side:

The WSJ has a great article on the history of how Mandela was captured: http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424127887324461604578191683590816070

The embedded video for some reason is very tiny - I am not sure how to change it? I'd recommend making it full screen to get the complete effect.
