It would seem we should be able to compute with a variant of this mechanism -- creating 'holes' in space-time -- by turning on and off the cloak for discreet locations in a spatially fixed homogenous medium, with hole semantics as logical 0 or 1.
What if you perform computation within the hole?
It's advances like these that make me think we couldn't begin to image the state of things in 200 years. It might also be why SETI hasn't found much. We might not stick around. I don't mean that we won't survive, I mean we might exit stage left.
