bhrgunatha:

Saw this on the BBC last week. It's excellent and whether you like electronic music or not I think it's worth a watch.

I've heard quite a few people who do like electronic music ask why Kraftwerk are so revered. I think mostly they're focused on the lack of a modern sounding equipment and musical techniques, but I'd argue that's one of the reasons they are held in such high regard. Exactly because they really understand MUSIC and transcend the technical layer while paradoxically expanding that layer (probably more than anyone else of their time.)

I remember on another forum someone asking why she felt the music was so warm and emotional when they are just using electronics. I think this documentary might have helped her understand.
