IMO it was good of them to come forward with their data. This is a nice demonstration of how science works. The process is not supposed to be error free. Part of the process is looking for potential errors. It also demonstrates how theory is beholden to experiment. If neutrinos were found to travel faster than c, then that would be that, -time to rethink. I don't fault these scientists at all.
