I'm officially over hamburger menus except for stuffing things you don't use as often / hiding your excessive navigation items that no one actually wants (like "ABOUT COMPANY").

My Chase banking app just switched from having a bottom navigation bar that had "accounts" "pay bills" "transfers" "make deposit" and "more":

To a hamburger menu with all this plus a bazillion things I never want stuffed in a hidden sidebar:

I still spend an extra 2 seconds trying to remember what I was doing when I opened the app, remembering, and then looking for the deposit button. This is the first screen after you log in:

That's great is you like minimalist shit that literally only lets you see your money. I don't know about you, but I am pretty aware of the amount of money I have in my account at any given time. I also use Mint to manage it and get weekly updates.

You know the only thing I want to do when I open their app? Deposit a check. That's it. I don't want to find an ATM - I use Google Maps for that as it saves me a full 2 minutes of time that I don't have while driving.

Google Maps: Open app, type chase, misspell any part of chase, and hit enter. Instantly presented with banks and ATMS nearby.

Chase: Open app, wait for load, type in username, type in ultra long password, hit enter, fail, retype username, retype ultra long password, hit enter, fail or succeed, click hamburger, look for "find atm", hope for the best.

You know the funniest thing about the Chase app? They don't have that much shit on the screen that they need the extra pixels at the bottom. It's a goddamn banking app. That bottom bar wasn't competing with any of the information presented on the screen or taking up any space they couldn't afford to lose. But they did it anyways because (a) the visual designer just liked pretty, pixel perfect, minimalist things (b) the UX team did all these fancy (awesome) things like showing a photo of your town based on your location (c) the UI team was non-existent or overruled, and (d) no one who made any decisions on the design of the app actually used the app.

So, point being, Fuck Chase (softly - not as hard as fuck BofA) and be careful with your hamburger menus.
