The New York Times loves to write about a mythical Portland that doesn't exist. It's filled with bee and chicken keepers, burning man attendees and kids that never do any work but can still drink PBR all day. Portlandia is satire and someone at the times doesn't understand satire.

Such that there is a portion of the population that is made up of young people coming here to retire it will be gone soon. Housing and rental prices should wipe them out in the next five to ten years.
