I've taught the fourth and fifth grades, taught the same students as 8th graders, and kept touch with some students into their mid-twenties. I can say I've also found few outliers.

Kids that had came from few resources tend to struggle beyond school, those with the resources continued toward a more stable adult life.

Why these trends are not a larger part of our national dialogue on education, I'm continually disappointed.
