Not many shows can get this kind of reception from a network, especially not spin-off shows. While I really enjoyed Breaking Bad and the Saul character, I'm not entirely sure this show is going to be the runaway success they think it is. I'd have taken a wait and see approach if I were the network.
I think it will be because they have the entire fanbase from breaking bad to play off, and they have all the original writers i think from breaking bad, so who knows? How it ends up is the biggest question. Will it do amazingly or will it crash and burn? We'll have to wait and see.
