Self-promotion: I just released a new piece of jewelry, this one based on Borromean Rings, made with three women.

If you examine any two figures, you will see they are not linked. But all three together are inseparable. I originally had made a 2d image, "cheating" by using photoshop to weave the circle figures together. I had someone ask if I could make a necklace pendant out of the design and I thought I'd give it a try. I was surprised that I had a working 3d model in one evening - one that could conceivably be done with real people (really flexible people) without limbs needing to pass through each other. I spend the next evening cleaning up and adjusting the model, and then I sent it out to be 3d printed in steel.

The first version was too thick to be a good pendant. It's a beautiful heavy piece, but too big. I redid the image making the bodies 30% thinner in width, keeping the head in the right proportion. This worked out well - flat enough to be a nice pendant and still realistic detail. It's my second piece of jewelry.

You can see a nice render at nakedgeometry.com, a photorealistic picture of how it would look real people. This is the same model that eventually became the 3d printed version you see here.

Here's a link to this and more of my 3d models and here's a link to nakedgeometry.com.

humanodon:

Mike, if there are any left by the time I get paid in July, I will buy one.
