It's a "forbidden relationship" erotic romance and only of interest to those who enjoy that genre but I'm so happy that I finally got a book published that I wanted to sing and dance about it.

What I would say is that the process of publishing (both print-on-demand and eBook) has taught me a lot of things:

1. I've learnt more about Scrivener than I ever thought I needed to know! I basically had to reformat my .scriv files from scratch - but now I've nearly climbed that steep learning curve, it's so much easier and more flexible and more powerful to use.

2. Self-publishing is kind of lonely. You spend hours writing it, fixing it up, then publishing it (the publishing part takes hours just by itself) then it's 3am and you're done and everyone's asleep. There's no party. There's no limo waiting to pick you up for Oprah's Book Club.

3. Publishing something - anything - really motivates you to write and publish more. It's like overcoming a kind of hurdle, getting the first one out. In fact I would even say I had "publisher's block" - I have four other novels nearly ready to go that I still haven't finalised. Now I can't wait to get them underway.

_refugee_:

This is interesting to me. By all hopes and purposes I will be self-publishing an illustrated book of poetry by the end of 2014 (while I think I may submit it to independent presses for consideration, I doubt it would be the kind of thing to 'grab' any of them).

What playform did you use to self-publish?

And, congratulations!
