Looks like a little Kiwi company has produced an awesome product. My cat's a good ratter, but I really want one of things too. We live adjacent to a reserve and small creek, and my cat brings me several rats every month.
It's a small thing but these traps could really make a difference for endangered bird species.

One wonders if the rats ever figure out to beware the pile of corpses. Looks like Possums don't.
BTW, it saddens me to watch your possums die. Because they're so much cuter than ours:
