Antibiotics research is not considered "hip" right now, and this is bad. Money givers want people to work on cutting edge research so they can get credit for financing something "cool.

On the other hand, take a look at young scientists like me. A dream of a good career. This is often connected to "big" publications. Sadly, antibiotics is not a subject that would give you one of those big publications...

Ending up with a lack if money and fresh scientists. It is a bad situation we are in.
