As a child living in relatively close proximity to a port, the sight of these large metal boxes offered a sense of wonderment, both an aesthetic joy at their geometric simplicity, and bafflement at what was in there behind those heavy doors

I had the same sense of wonder and intrigue whenever I would see the huge container ships in the harbor or on the sea. They really are massive even though the containers look like legos when piled high. You don't fully realize how big they are until you see a man walking around the ship and you have to force your brain to interrupt what exactly you are see. Yes, that is a normal man. Yes those containers tower 100x his height. Wow.
