I rarely watch Shark Tank but when I do I am always filled with a sense of wonder, sadness and confusion. Even the best pitches sometimes make me question, "who ever thought that was a good idea, particularly a good enough idea to take out another mortgage on your home?"

I feel bad for the contestants but at the same time I don't. Chances are everyone around them has been encouraging them to do it and waste heaps and heaps of money making a product no one wants or sells for the wrong price. A little does of reality and a sharp "you made 17k and spent 100k in the last year? WTF?" is the best thing that can happen to some of these hopefuls. Even if it hurts.
