I've been thinking about this recently, and it just kind of seems arbitrary. Is there any particular reason hubski was named the way it is? And where did the logo come from? Is it just because it looks nice?

I'm really curious about the design choices that went into it. Are the two colored dots in the top right just to signal the different colors of hubski, or are they supposed to represent something? Hmm...

The name Hubski is a play on it being a "hub" of information and mk's last name, he's of polish ancestry. The logo was designed by mk when he was a kid, he spray-painted it on a t-shirt. -as he mentions in a comment on that post.

It was just a logo at first, but later I realized it could be used to "tally" shares etc. after having dream about the mechanism that Predator wears on his wrist in the first Predator movie. -weird, I know.

mk could answer the question of the color in the logo better than I but I've always assumed he put the orange and the blue in there because on the site those colors represent either you or the relationship between you and someone you follow that follows you back. -So, those colors aren't just nice looking (which I happen to think they are) but they represent relationship.

We've done a few interviews now, but I think one of the more comprehensive ones was for cultureramp and it explains some of our thinking.
