I don't think this is much of a solution, but at the very least, it might make some people more aware of the issue.
vielmetti: DNS is an old protocol; it's not impossible to imagine something else that does gethostbyname() without a centralized service.After all, for a time people navigated through UUCP by exchanging files that had maps of what was connected to what.
