On top of that, my wife resigned from her teaching job in early 2021 due to a tragic personal event. She’s back out there looking at making up to $10k more working for an educational staffing company — fully remote. What a great labor market for job seekers.
Thank you mk.
I’m excited! They’re covering the cost of the course and test as well which is a nice perk. Thanks for the kind words.
If they did it wasn’t mentioned. It was buried within a paragraph. No big deal since he accepted the counteroffer anyway. Couldn’t have made a big difference.
Update: my counteroffer was accepted, and in about a year when I (hopefully) pass the CFP exam they will raise my salary to $55k. This is a real success for me.
Just had a stage three interview for an entry-level financial planning job. Got the call with the job offer. I got the job, but compensation was lower than I expected. Asked for $2,500 more and hit send, afterwards I immediately noticed a math mistake on my part in the justification. Beating myself up about it. I’m trying to learn how to be less hard on myself. Anyway, if the counteroffer is accepted I’ll be making $50k at a local firm. Not bad for me in Kansas City being in my 20s. I’m excited for the opportunity. 45h per week, opportunity for advancement, no cold calling.
Loved the part where he said Americans don’t need tens of thousands of dollars. It’s either that or one health incident and debt, boy.
Oh, I have no doubt that it is impossible for every individual to grow all their sustenance. You are completely correct. I was referencing something more along the lines of having a small garden box / a few pots to grow herbs and spices in. I feel as if almost everyone has the means to accomplish this eco-friendly task. It couldn't take more than a few minutes per day to do. Ah! Your friend has a hobbyset I'd very much like to reflect. Do you know if farmers markets charge to set up a table?
I remember when you first posted the painting of the white building -- i think it is as beautiful today as the day I first saw it. How did you start painting? Where did you learn?
When it comes out feel free to hit me up! I'd love to have some multiplayer friends.
This is beautiful! Great work. How long did it take you?
I love Stardew Valley! You should post a screenshot of your farm, I'd love to see it. How many years in are you?
I'm playing Stardew Valley. I'm in a really unproductive time in my life and being able to farm and raise animals is a really good stress reliever. Especially since I can't just go outside and start gardening right now...because winter. It's really good. Basically a mix between Terraria and FarmVille. There are a ton of hidden features that are really nice when you come across them, and the NPC interactions are more in-depth than I've seen in any other game. Apparently co-op will be released eventually and that'll make it more enjoyable.
I think it's an interesting prospect that everyone in the world could garden instead of farm. I'd be hard pressed to find a living space in which one couldn't grow a couple potted carrots and herbs. I agree that high-yield farming is impossible for everyone to do, for space constraints and because people don't have enough time or care to make it happen. I've been thinking of making some herbal infused oils and selling them at farmers markets alongside my modest crop of tomatoes and onions. Has anyone here ever tried anything similar?
Just saw your pictures of the puffins!! These were my favorite animals as a child. Thank you for sharing.
Wow. Seems like an incredible experience; I can't believe so many of you slept in a midsized Renault. I recently took a trip around Europe, though it was merely a school trip and not as independent as your adventure seemed to be. Glad you all traveled safe and hopefully you had the time of your life. The hot springs look incredible from your pictures. Hopefully I will be able to see something like that someday. Does anyone know of anything similar in the States?
But spam
This is the kind of quality post that makes Hubski what it is.
They were just in KC! Many of my friends went and had a lot of fun.
Didn't they pull phrases from a hat for Kid A? EDIT: Found this on Wikipedia. "Yorke wrote many of Kid A's lyrics by cutting up words and phrases and assembling them at random."
Has anyone shown you the new bookmark feature?
I can't imagine that leather shoes would wick away much moisture. For the daily wear shoes, are you looking for something more formal like oxfords or something casual like Stan Smiths?
You should be deadlifting more than your squat, and squatting more than your bench. Why only 135 for everything?
I've recently found myself looking up at the cloudy midwestern sky and admiring the clouds as well. They're awe-inspiring and hardly anyone notices. For the shoes -- what style do you want? Sneakers? Running shoes?
I read bl00's rants then leave.
Nothing, currently, besides paying for oil and some clothing. Yes, I have a savings account at a local bank.
I'm 17 but I'm saving up $3,000 to put in a VTSMX fund when I turn 18. I have about $600 saved and still have four months to go. Wish me luck. I make about $800/month by lifeguarding and waiting tables. Just finished paying my share of a trip to Europe that my parents were so kind to help me out with. Any tips for where to go from here?
