Right? The Chinese are incapable of doing good. </s>

I would imagine it will be the African countries. After that, space.

I am actually in San Francisco right now! Will be here until the end of the month and then I am off again. :)

I go away for a bit and next thing you know, I read that you're starting a noble cause to improve the lives of everyone. I am very excited on your venture and intend to help spread the word in my little circle.

This reminds me a lot of the McRefugees in Hong Kong.

This article is confusing. I don't understand the point of the article. :(

Fuckin' A. How much did it cost to name a building after him? Zilch. How much did he make them that year? $247 million. I mean, sure. Be outraged. That's your right. But I have no problem with this.

This exactly. What is the difference if he donated $247,000,000 or he made $247,000,000 for the school? The school is better off by $247,000,000 either way. Total non-issue.

Welps.. I am at 1500+, but it should really be 500 or so if truth be told. I've been pretty much MIA the fast few years.

thenewgreen I am doing well thank you very much for the well wishes. I am not nearly as active on Hubski as I would like to, but I do visit and lurk every now and then.

Looking forward to hearing all about your new venture in the coming weeks and months.

I wish you and your loved ones a happy and safe holiday season.

That is a great idea!! Not sure if I can get them out of school for a day, but tickets to a museum, zoo, or a play sounds fantastic!!

Cool Hand Luke. Saw it for the first time in my high school film literature class and must've seen it another 1000 times (perhaps a little exaggeration there, but you get the idea) since.

And to think, I paid for one of his books. :( I feel so dirty. If it weren't for the water crisis in California, I'd go scrub myself right now.

lessismore  ·  3180 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Why you should be reading Liu Cixin, China’s hottest science-fiction writer

The problem is that most people think that it is a problem others have to deal with and that they should not have to make any personal sacrifices or that he or she alone will not make an impact. I live in SF and it pains me to see people waste water as if that is perfectly okay despite the fact that we're dealing with a water crisis.

Every time I go by a golf course, I want to curse.

Yeah. I tried to finish it, but I could not. I just could not make that leap to buy into the premise.

For the workplace, it is not an option for most people. But for the home user, it is very much an option.

Can you please elaborate on how it is inflexible when you need to do anything slightly complicated? I am not a fan of neither Gnome nor KDE, but helping folks migrate from Windows to BSD or Linux desktops, they find both desktop environment to be very user-friendly.
