Well, that sure was a brilliant run for that week :)

You can see both the number of calls made and the number of signatures to the online petition on the website, that's all I'm aware of. I don't know if those have had any results.

Yeah, the idea was to submit posts with both the tag of the week and "#tagoftheweek".

See here for the rules I made up in the first post. I think they kinda changed as sometimes the tag "#tagoftheweek" gets added later on by other posters. I wonder how that'll fare given that we're now using a more popular tag.

Well, that'll be up to the winner of this week to decide :)

(It can be you!)

Oh, thanks. I wasn't actually meaning to link, initially. It was just sort of a reflex. I corrected it though.

So I'll go with #castles for my part.

I'd like to add that I feel that a week might be a tad bit too long, but we can still work on that and change it later on.

givello  ·  3751 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What would you think of a Hubski Day Of, on the model of what /r/redditdayof does?

I think, given the different nature of hubski, that we could combine those two ideas by having a #tagoftheweek instead of #hubskiweekof. It would basically be the same thing, because we could then choose to talk about, to take your example, ducks, by having the tag be #ducks.

It's not the first time I see this concept, I believe this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueDAVMbuDvw demonstrates a similar idea, though I can't check because I don't have flash at work and it's not available in html5.

givello  ·  3754 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Anatomy of an Internet Pissing Match: Mother Jones, Reddit and GUNS

I don't see it either, though it is in the html. This is the link: "http://www.reddit.com/submit?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motherjone..."

and the title is "Anatomy of an Internet Pissing Match: Mother Jones, Reddit and GUNS".

EDIT: this is not showing in the comment either. My theory would be something to do with hubski removing html from comments, because of the html escape codes maybe.

Would that work? www.reddit.com/submit?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.motherjones.com%2Fpolitics%2F2014%2F01%2Freddit-guns-assault-rifle-ar15-logo-conde-nast

I did see that one actually, but it's lacking the known information about specs and price.

Anyhow, I didn't find any other article listing all machines, and from a quick search it doesn't seem that Ars published one...

To tell you the dirty truth, I think I first saw that on reddit and then googled (well, ducked) around to find the list again. But I've heard of arstechnica, yes. I just don't discover articles through browsing the publishing website, usually.

givello  ·  3755 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Show me a new idea

It does, actually. I think the current layout is closer to musical theory and notations, though. The "default" notes are the white keys for example.

givello  ·  3755 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Show me a new idea

As someone who plays a bit of piano, I find that interesting. But I wonder about a few things: the current layout makes it dead easy to play using the Do scale, and it gets more and more awkward as you add sharps or flats to change the key; but you tend to play much more frequently things in Do major, Fa major, Sol major...

Wouldn't that layout make it that much more akward to play basic stuff? Do-Mi-Sol would require you to put one finger in the top row, at a different distance than the one between the Do and the Mi...

I don't know, it seems a bit strange to me, but then again, that was the idea of that post. I'd love to try out such a layout some day.
