True story - a friend of mine used to have an MR2 and was involved with a local MR2 car club; so he had a bumper sticker on it, which displayed their web address : "mr2.org.nz". My wife saw it and asked me "Why does he have a bumper sticker that says 'Mister Two Organs' ?"
You are correct! From "The picture of Dorian Gray" (and it's 'lifelong passion', but I only know that because I googled it).
Don't ask me why, but I kinda like this (it's a remake of an old Sun Ra piece - Rocket Number Nine). [edit] And holy crap, only 18 views!]
Frank Zappa maybe. Smart guy, very prolific, very influential.
I suspect it's more a case of sobering up, and not sugar. The normal metabolism of ethanol does not appear to yield any sugars at any point (but I am not an expert). There's quite a bit of evidence that suggests there's no such thing as a sugar rush in any case; but I know from experience that very few people will ever believe that.
Somehow I suspect this might have been a factor in your decision to return the phone (but I hope I'm wrong about that).I honestly have no idea how to call people when the phones locked
:-) For the GOP : "This is where the party ends ..."
Sturgeon's Law almost always applies.90% of anime is pure shit
You might be right - mainstreaming of the PC, fuelled by the rise of the Internet.
We do have good steaks here - and venison and lamb; and seafood of course; but what really shines is the bacon. OMG. There's many different types and they're all delicious. American-style bacon is called "streaky bacon" but there's also middle-bacon, shoulder-bacon, and a couple of other kinds too. "Spoiled for choice" is what we say here.
A very proud moment for all Kiwis.
No need to apologise! I became a big fan of ACC when my son broke his neck a few years back. They covered everything including 80% of his salary for the three months or so he was in a halo vest. Without that support, he would have been financially ruined; instead, he didn't even lose his job.
Native son Tiki Taane made this song for the benefit of the local children's hospital, Starship. It's beautiful.
Heh - I did a quick search and found the passage I was referring to - here it is :Some women, Commander Norton had decided long ago, should not be allowed aboard ship; weightlessness did things to their breasts that were too damn distracting. It was bad enough when they were motionless; but when they started to move, and sympathetic vibrations set in, it was more than any warm-blooded male should be asked to take. He was quite sure that at least one serious space accident had been caused by acute crew distraction, after the transit of a well-upholstered lady officer through the control cabin.
I can't imagine why anyone who is not in the pocket of big corporations would shill for this piece of crap. There's everything in it for the corporations, and nothing at all for the people, the environment, or national sovereignty. Here's what Bernie has to say about it : "Let’s be clear: the TPP is much more than a "free trade" agreement. It is part of a global race to the bottom to boost the profits of large corporations and Wall Street by outsourcing jobs; undercutting worker rights; dismantling labor, environmental, health, food safety and financial laws; and allowing corporations to challenge our laws in international tribunals rather than our own court system."
These were all replacements for 50W halogens, ordered from dx.com (Deal Extreme) I haven't had any 'normal' LED bulbs explode (yet!). 4 of them (maybe 5?) exploded over the course of about 2 years. A loud "pop", a bad stink, and tiny bits of glass strewn across the kitchen - not ideal. No fires, though.
Just started an oldie (but one I've never read before) - "Childhood's End" by Arthur C Clarke.
I had a 1974 baby-blue mustang 2, when I was a teenager - but not a fastback like the one in this article. I liked it a lot - but that was probably because the car it replaced was a 1970 Dodge Duster - what a dog that POS was. That mustang-2 was a pretty fun car to drive, until I ran it too low on oil and blew the engine. Damn thing never showed me a dash warning light, either; not until a couple of minutes before it croaked. Cars weren't as reliable or predictable back then.
I believe Rowling herself suggested Rickman for Snape (she picked a few of the other actors as well, if I recall correctly).
Doubly relevant video :
Well said. I know it's odd, that we feel so much for people we never knew. Can't explain it really; but I wept when Nimoy died too, and I never knew him either. Those of you who aren't grieving - maybe just STFU for a day, ok? It's not about you.
So sad. We've talked about him on here before:

St Paul rocks! Thanks for that. Will check out the others soon.
They did at least estimate the math on that question :It sounds from the article as if they haven't done the math on that yet
With current technology, that means greenhouse gas emissions involved in running this scheme would offset something like 8 to 33 percent of your CO2 drawdown.
I would assume you were blocked for this, not that :
Phish ringing in the year 2011 with a pretty good cover of J J Cale's "After Midnight" :
I heard this song this morning and now it's stuck in my head. For an earworm, it could be a lot worse; bonus, the video has a narwhal in it.
