Wow, I almost forgot about this.

Here is my letter:

And the stickers:

The N appears to be mostly covered in five-leaf clovers, as well as a few flowers. I'm not sure if the stickers are part of the riddle.

I really liked Catch-22 and Yossarian was the main character of the book. I also just like the name.

So is the lake in the middle of the Zelda 1 map Lake Hylia? Also, are the locations in Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess the same locations as their analogues in other Zelda games, just with different names (e.g. Eldin Volcano is Death Mountain, Faron Woods are the Lost Woods, Lanayru Desert is the Gerudo Valley area etc.). I honestly always thought that each game had a forest, desert, and mountain themed area, as well as a lake in order to incorporate the traditional gameplay elements of the series. It seems so obvious now that each game takes place in the same place.

I like that Termina theory by the way.

Yossarian  ·  3709 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, got a favorite map?

It was from the LOTR wiki Beleriand article; I believe it is a fan-made combination of the maps from the beginning of LOTR and The Silmarillion. Tolkien never made many maps of his world, especially not outside of Beleriand and LOTR-era western Middle-earth, so most maps you'll see on the internet are fan-made.

I think users should use either tag whenever they feel it's necessary to speak to one specific gender, otherwise keep things gender-neutral. As a sidenote, I prefer #boyski to #byyski, and #girlski to #grrlski for that matter.

Yossarian  ·  3709 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, got a favorite map?

Does anyone seriously think that the developers of Zelda ever attempted to create a consistent geographic world where all the games take place? I always felt like they sacrificed a consistent geographic world for more freedom in crafting the world of each game. Plus, they can always explain away any discrepancies with the fact that each game takes place hundreds or thousands of years apart from each other. But then there's Termina- no one can really agree on what or where that is.

Yossarian  ·  3709 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, got a favorite map?

This map seriously disorients me.

Yossarian  ·  3709 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: NEW TAG: grrlski

Makes sense. How about #byyski if you want a man's perspective, although based on the demographics of hubski, that tag probably isn't necessary.

Yossarian  ·  3709 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: NEW TAG: grrlski

What is the point of this tag? Is it for sharing things that are specifically aimed at women and/or interesting to them?

Here's the west coast of Middle-earth, Beleriand, before the Valar sunk it at the end of the Second Era and the new west coast became Eriador.

The mountains labelled Ered Luin at the very right are the same mountains on the very left of your map, also labelled Ered Luin.

This probably explains better:

Upstate represent!

Edit: I see I didn't actually answer your question. I'm from Broadalbin, a small town of 5000 not very close to Rochester.

Yossarian  ·  3710 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The decline and fall of the monarch butterfly

Does that have anything to do with your username?

Yossarian  ·  3710 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The decline and fall of the monarch butterfly

Yeah, also if humans disappeared right now, it would take hundreds (thousands?) of years for CO2 levels to stabilize to pre-industrial revolution levels.

Sad to hear about the butterflies though, I've definitely noticed an absence of them in my area (upstate NY) in recent years.

That was extremely frustrating to read. Scary to think how recently this happened, not to say that people like Mr. Tavenner don't exist in this country today, but I'd like to think we're past Congress interrogating and punishing U.S. citizens for exercising their first amendment rights. But then there's the potential of the NSA to do these sort of things more secretly, which worries me.

Physical space?- probably more than a tiny Hong Kong apartment. What's more important to me as a raging introvert is that I can have alone time when I want it (which is every day). Not to say that I don't like being around people, but after a while it overwhelms me.

Solving a problem, finding someone who does/thinks something that I felt was unique to me, nature, a good night's sleep, exercise, learning, etc.

How do you intend to achieve complete economic freedom by 35, if I may ask? Would your job be your hobby?

I think I'll plug my favorite ASMRist, Ephemeral Rift, not just because he triggers me the most, but because he puts more effort and creativity into his videos than anyone I've ever seen.

I didn't know the site informed you about reposts, thanks!

Yossarian  ·  3715 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Stephen Hawking: 'There are no black holes'

I'm not sure what hubski's policy on reposts is, but I'd just like to say this was posted less than 24 hours ago. Just a friendly reminder to maybe search the name of the article before posting it. Even better, there is a chrome extension that will tell you if the webpage you are currently on has been posted on hubski and will link you to the post. If it hasn't been posted, clicking on the extension will allow you to quickly post the current webpage to hubski.

Also, someone please correct me if reposts are welcome on hubski, as I'm used to reddit where they are generally considered bad. However, reddiquette (the semi-official etiquette of reddit) says not to complain about reposts, so I'm not sure where I stand on this. I suspect there isn't a consensus on this, but I just want to know what others think.

Anyway, very interesting article!

Edit: original post

Interesting.

Yossarian  ·  3716 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Does anyone here on huski experience ASMR?

other times it is oddly foreboding and unsettling.

Could you elaborate on that? I've only ever heard ASMR described as being pleasant. What you might be talking about is frisson, which can be caused by hearing beautiful music or anxiety. Either way, there has always been much confusion between the two feelings, but its generally agreed that they are distinct.

Yossarian  ·  3718 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The ‘How Are You?’ Culture Clash

Sometimes I'm not sure whether someone is genuinely asking how I'm doing or if they just want to hear "fine". It's always awkward when I tell the truth in the latter situation (as long as I'm anything less than fine) and the person is caught off guard and feels obligated to ask why I'm not fine.
