I think if I stopped using a phone for quite some time and then brought that up as proof it would have standing. When asked why I stopped using my phone I would say it was because I was afraid my phone would be forced to transmit information which then could be intercepted by third parties and used to exploit my identity. That definitely is a legitimate concern and represents an adverse effect.

I think it's pretty obvious now that pretty much everything that exists to disseminate information and allow for free access to that which would encourage critical thinking are now in the business of manipulating the population to not think critically and maintain the power structure currently in place.

That's seems ethically questionable if a government organization uses a cell tower to try and force your phone to transmit data. This just seems like coercion. I don't like it.
