I really like Tokyo Flash watches, they are some of the most imaginitive and inventive watches on the market right now!

I don't know if I can excuse a test this minor!

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4128 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What are your top 5 books?

1. House of leaves because it taught me that you don't need to make a book like a book for it to be a good book

2. Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Which taught me that there can be Comedic Science Fiction

3. John Dies At the End It taught me that there can be unorthodox ways of telling a story and learning there are other takes on events

4. Snow Crash Which gave me a better way to look at the ability words have on a society as well as showing how two different worlds can be

5. Enders Game Taught me how to think like a kid who is able to understand adults but still have an imagination

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4128 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: My Ex-Gay Friend

No need, I have read the comic you are referring to. I probably worded it incorrectly in the first place to be honest. The point that I was trying to get across was that he might have had a desire in a particular person (Which is most likely because of the long time relationship with his boyfriend) and by doing that he became a part of a culture that he didn't believe in.

It's even evidenced in his outspoken-ness for the cause. The enthusiasm is directly related to the belief in the cause. Since he was trying to convince himself that he was a part of it, he tried harder than those who were actually a part of it.

This also is shown by his change in beliefs. His tenaciousness is unchanged, it's just the idea that he is trying to convince him self of is what's changed. He's still as outspoken as ever, but for a different idea.

Much like the writer of the article, I am not phased by his life style change, I am disturbed by his anger towards the group that he once defended.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4128 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: My Ex-Gay Friend

This was a truly fantastic read. I appreciate the lengths the writer goes to figure out what happened to his friend.

I can see why he would change his life after the scare that happened with his heart, but I am unable to discern why he chose to take such a hard right turn and become the thing that he hated the most.

It's possible that, like how his old boss said, that he never really was gay in the first place. Just a young man who was entranced by an idea and once he was satisfied he was overcome with another idea and is right now perusing it.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4129 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: A better way to get to hashtags?

I touched upon this in one of my earlier posts, tags should behave not only like a tag but also as a link to the relevant area of interest of a submission. and as rorifer pointed out, an actual menu of followed tags would be good.

If I had it my way, I would have hubski use tags like tumblr does.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4129 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: So, I Went for my First Run Today

I havn't been running competitively or anything but I learned while I was in the navy that moving your body and running can make you think more clearly and feel more in touch wit everything.

It's almost as though the quickness and fleeting contact with the ground makes you more in touch with it. Sort of like an absence makes the heart grow fonder type of thing.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Where are/did you going to college?

You could still be a CT!

Being on a ship in the middle of the ocean is probably one of the best experiences of my life. You don't have to be on a submarine if you don't want to!

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Where are/did you going to college?

I'd say go and join the navy. You get to do a lot more stuff there than in the Airforce. but I guess I'm a little biased.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Where are/did you going to college?

I'm currently in between my first and second semester of college after spending three years in the navy.

I'm going to Nicholls State University studying Mass Comms.

a way to remedy that would for the site to give terms on the side. Sort of like a "most commonly used tags" that way you wouldn't get the shattered effects that comes with using tags like that.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Lake of Fire NSFL documentary about abortion

There is a scene where they show a late term abortion being performed and you are shown the baby gunk that they suck out of the woman.

Included in the gunk is a little hand, a little foot, and a little skull

It's the little hub in the upper right hand corner. The more little dots you get filled the closer you are to getting a badge. once you get a badge you can use it to highlight a post that you think is really good.

It's the next evolution of karma.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: AskHubski: Do you have a superstition?

I have a lot of superstitions. I think everything is connected and I'm super paranoid about a lot of things. My superstitions border on being a real problem and they would be if I wasn't able to ignore them.

It's a tough road that I ride but it's just one that I want to go on because it's a scenic route and there are many undiscovered cities on the path I follow.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Ask Hubski: Where was the last place you flew? Where would you like to fly to?

The last time I flew was from Seattle to New Orleans, with a stop off in Chicago.

Next flight is going to be to Manchester.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Omegle! Talk to strangers!

The best way to avert or rather, make the first one less frequent, is to use the tags and append Conversation to it. This usually helps filter it for me.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Is YTMND dying?

I have to agree with you there. The fact isn't that it's dead, but it's also a type of expression that has been superseded by other more open and useful tools such as youtube poops and plane old tumblr style blogs.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Omegle! Talk to strangers!

Indeed it doesn't have the best signal to noise ratio, but when you do find that right person, the conversations are usually amazing.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What's the best (and/or most interesting) piece of advice you've ever heard?

This saying is what got me through my time in the US NAVY.

Go for it I say. I mean, it gives you the freedom to become Robin Hood, or start a new uprising in a third world country. Fight Godzillia.

I totally would like to know.

It's like in that movie Big Fish. The guy knew nothing else could kill him so he was able to be brave as possible and face fears that he never knew he could. In my case, it would remove all my fears that I might not be able to do something.

I could fall down mountains, Run with bulls, Swim accross the ocean all because I know that I will die while fighting a bear and a Sharktopus while falling out of a helicoptor into a volcano.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski Suggestions

I think that would be what you would go to if you were to right click a tag to open it in a new page. That little dialog that pops up would be in there.

Also: you would just click it again if you subscribed on accident. One click to subscribe which would make the tag/user's name blue and then click it again to unsubscribe making it gray.

OmnomoBoreos  ·  4131 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski the next reddit?

I would also like to be a hubbie. I joined looking for the similar things being a long time redditor for over 6 years, the site just seems like it's been going downhill. Even though they do have points about the smaller reddits, the format of hubski, following people and topics to build your front page as opposed to subscribing to other reddits is a way more intuitive system of getting to the content that you wish to see.

This is pretty awesome, but I kind of want to know what people from our age have in mind for what will be possible in 100 years.

Although the purchases through tubes thing sounds pretty cool. I would like it if I bought something online and it arrived via Pneumatic Tube almost instantly.
