How did your subsequent attempts go? I have asthma, but I occasionally like to indulge. Making eliquid to vape would help to not activate an asthmatic response.

Thanks!

I'm about to do a google search on Smolov Jr. That's a new one to me. Could you or anyone else also list some basic descriptions of it please? I'll add a link if I find something that looks reputable.

Edit:

Here is the link...looks good.

Saving this post to review again later. Looks like solid stuff! Thank you for the tips! Keep up the strong work 🤗

LazarusRevives  ·  2838 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: I did the heavy thing!

I had not even considered the width of the bench I have at home until you said this! I think that may actually help. Maybe a bit of thick foam board for some moderate support that doesn't limit range of motion. Hmm. I'll also try out the rotations and get myself some bands. Thanks for the tips 👍🏻

LazarusRevives  ·  2841 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: I did the heavy thing!

Yes!! Evee. Good work on both counts. I need to get my lazy butt in the gym again. How did you go about building up? I need some suggestions on weak shoulders...they tend to pop when I lift anything over like 100lbs (50kg I think). Any suggestions on exercises for supporting muscle groups around the chest/shoulders? Thanks!

Oh wow. Thank you for bringing that post to my attention. I had tried to search for it, but I'm not good at searching Hubski yet...

LazarusRevives  ·  2852 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Random and slightly scary question...

For the simple

purpose of randomness. But, say that a soul is some form of energy. Light can't escape a black hole and we can see it. We cannot see a soul...but I suppose we also cannot see the various color fields that [butterflies]( http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2016/03/butterfly-has-extreme-color-vision) allegedly see. Hmm...but I do see your point. I cannot prove a soul is real or tangible and only death will let anyone subjectively know.

LazarusRevives  ·  2852 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Random and slightly scary question...

This is all steering sorta in the direction I had hoped. I was going to ask about dark matter actually. And super-position/uncertainty principles.

LazarusRevives  ·  2852 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Random and slightly scary question...

HA! That was pretty funny. I probably will check into that.

LazarusRevives  ·  2853 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: How do I give badges?

Does this all still apply?? I'm not sure how these badges work or if they are even relevant. I think my wheel is all the way around....idk.

Thanks

for

your

help

:-)

And here I was thinking that we had a meth epidemic on our hands. I wonder what happens when we legalize all drugs and remove the stigma associated with them? Oh wait. Portugal did that a while back you say? https://www.thefix.com/content/decrim-nation-portugal-ten-years-later

Hmm...okay. So, maybe we need to just isolate and lock up the addicts in jail or something. Oh wait, that makes them worse you say?

Excuse my sarcasm. It just gets to me that this information is out there and ignored by many.

That is way awesome. Instant downloads? That video was neat and not subliminal at all gooogle is the over lord worship and obey Ahhh just had a weird blackout. it will be amazing and I'll give them all my money. Lol but seriously though that is cool.

If you have read it, what is your opinion on the book, Non-Violence: The History of a Dangerous Idea by Mark Kurlansky? If you haven't read it. You might enjoy it...it is an interesting perspective and is fairly thought provoking.

I asked because of your rejection of deontology, which I can support. Sorry for the tangent...and thanks for the new vocabulary word: denotology.

Found this on Benedictine philosophy for free...thought I'd add it to the conversation.

LazarusRevives  ·  2855 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Not sure how this website works but here are todays thoughts

Tabula Rasa. We are all born a blank slate and indoctrinated into whatever truth our family may hold, if they hold anything sacred enough to do that with. No one knows the truth that you are addressing here. There are many that claim to know the truth, but that is their belief. Belief and truth are not one and the same. But, in a certain sense one could argue that belief is truth subjectively. So, stand in your own truth and believe what you want to believe. I personally choose to build a door. One was built for me as a child, but I have opened it, walked through, ventured about and come back to the foyer since then.

One thing I have found to be true is that we are all hypocrites at some time in our life. This frequently upset me as I passed through my teens and on into my 20s somewhat. But, whether we choose to live in that hypocritical state of being constantly is up to us. Remember that polarization occurs when someone only hears or seeks information that supports their belief. In this situation they ignore negative feed back, which may cause them to pause and reassess how they see the world. This can be a scary process for some. I can't honestly say that I have perfected it in all subjects, but I do try to listen to all sides before forming my opinion.

Also, I like to hold on to the philosophy that I reserve the right to change my mind when new and better information presents itself.

Welcome to Hubski!!

LazarusRevives  ·  2857 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: In search of Mindfulness and parables..

To add to the topic of mindfulness, it is frequently used in positive psychology. It literally means being mindful of your consciousness. It is a way of looking within and being present in the moment. A way to accept things as they are and life as it will be, without being overcome with the incredible nature of reality. It can be increased through practices, such as meditation and other techniques that help separate emotion and ego from experience.

LazarusRevives  ·  2857 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: In search of Mindfulness and parables..

Thank you for that! I do believe that is the one and the same. I had it confused because there were many years between me hearing it for the first time and now.

LazarusRevives  ·  2875 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Movie written by algorithm turns out to be hilarious and intense

That reminded me of a time when a friend of mine and I texted in person. We had one requirement: we could not look at the phone while typing. Some really random stuff came out of simple messages. Give it a try some time it's good for a laugh if nothing else!

LazarusRevives  ·  2876 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: R Passes SAS in Scholarly Use (finally)

It's interesting that this software is so jargon-ed that it can simply go by the letter R. Which reminds me of a video I watched of a lecture delivered by a statistician who was discussing how jargon can inhibit the accessibility of knowledge. He made several more interesting points...I'll try and find it so I can share. Can't seem to locate it now.

LazarusRevives  ·  2877 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The Avalanches - Frankie Sinatra

Well that was a fun song. Thanks for sharing and helping me expand my music library further! I missed this band somehow...What genre would you call this? Google told me that it is Electronic, plunderphonics, hip hop.

All the randomness in it reminded me of a band called Tunng....which then reminded me of this song:

LazarusRevives  ·  2877 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: 176th Weekly "Share Some Music You've Been Into Lately" Thread

Really getting into chill step lately. Not a big fan of dubstep, but some is okay. Its odd to see the evolution of my musical tastes from country as a kid to pop, to rock...to hating sell out bands, to not caring and just enjoying melodies, to rock, to metal, to gypsy rock to randomness whatever I can try out.

Here are a few:

Gogol Bordello (Not chill step obviously)

Above & Beyond (Chill Step remixed)

Adventure Club (Chill step remixed)

Alestorm (A little taste of what I like to call "pirate rock" for ya. Love this song)
LazarusRevives  ·  2877 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The Avalanches - Frankie Sinatra

Well, I do get a little bit 'Genghis Kong', especially when I hear 'Silvia'. Sorry, had to. Siii eee iii eee iiii llll viii aaaaa. That song has a haunting feeling to it that just sucks me in every time. I can almost see a cold city dead in the night time, streets empty, a lone wanderer walking along following the power lines to his future...

LazarusRevives  ·  2879 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Please allow me to introduce myself

I'm really back and forth on the afterlife issue. I hope that there is one, because there are so many people (AND PETS!!!) that I'd love to see again. But, I find it hard to wrap my head around, since I don't remember anything before this life. Maybe someone here does? That would be an interesting story. Something similar to...was it Ramantha?...that the lady channeled in 'What the Bleep Do We Know?". I often wonder about spiritual mediums and that sort of thing. I Have had some unexplained experiences, that others explain away as psychosis or something similar. (No aliens or anything like that as far as I know). But, there is some kind of awe inspiring energy out there in this existence and who am I to say what it can do. I'll still most likely be a bit skeptical until I die and find out, hopefully not too soon.

LazarusRevives  ·  2879 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Some lyrics of mine

Well, I toiled with soundcloud and got mad at it. Then I saw the idea of youtube, so I hit up my native movie maker app with a blank photo and added the audio track. Voila! Success! It was a one take/first take recording on my phone, so please pardon the quality and the chord i missed.

Also, that's exactly what I meant! Similar thoughts on similar subject matter. (I have a bad habit of throwing people off, because I'm often out somewhere in left field so-to-speak)

Feel free to add to this if you'd like. I'd love to see what it could become!

LazarusRevives  ·  2879 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: I could hardly sleep last night

Awesome! Jazzy, funky, groovy! Good stuff man. Me being eccentric and who I am, I'd be begging the sax player to hit that riff from Baker Street at the start of every session lol

You know the one?

I think I heard it in the movie lost boys for the first time, when I was a kid back in the day. Looks like you guys have a blast jamming though either way.

LazarusRevives  ·  2878 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Some lyrics of mine

That sounds good to me. I had a friend once that played bass for me in a style that was very much progressive metal. I could call mine acoustic rock at best, I suppose.

It was amazing when we combined the two genres into what I would call groove rock lol

I'd love to hear what it can become!

LazarusRevives  ·  2879 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Some lyrics of mine

My internet connection is giving me issues and basically being an out right jerk. I'll get a track up as soon as soundcloud and the router allow me. (Band camp failed me---it barely got past 2% before the signal crashed or whatever it does.)

I other news, I read your profile description and I must say, you sir are a badass in the best way. Keep the minds open and the lessons flowing!

LazarusRevives  ·  2879 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Google aims to kill passwords by the end of this year

My phone supposedly has some of the latest and greatest finger print recognition software and it still screws up. So like, I grow a beard and my password fails. What if I had one and shave it. Or....gods forbid I get older and age like every other damn living thing! Lol google comes up with some cool stuff sometimes, but idk. I agree...are we really ready for more annoyance and privacy invasions? Minority Report style adds etc. The future is not at all like I pictured it when Doc Brown showed me the way. I'll take the 80s again and less personal data infringement.

LazarusRevives  ·  2879 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Please allow me to introduce myself

I'm not the most knowledgeable about religion or their practices. My parents rose me in an episcopal church until I was about 20 I went at the behest of my stern father (also a lawyer like you and judge in recent years). Here is something I wrote as I was thinking on religion and I believe I'm still similar in my feelings. But, everyone experiences different things and I can accept that and enjoy hearing other perspectives when people keep emotions out and logic in.

Here follows some words of my perspective to a degree..as I re-read it I'm nodding and shaking my head at times:

I am something like a New Thought Taoist maybe?

I believe that all matter is of God and therefore is inherently good, but can become corrupted by negative thought and action. I believe that God continues to work in the world through the spirit energy He created within all life. I believe that many prophets have come and gone to help break the pattern of negative thinking and free us from mental prisons. These prophets were more in tune with the divine energy of God. I believe in energy, love, and a divine balance. We did not exist until we were born and we will no longer exist when we die. Our energy may remain in some form, but no one will know until their body dies. Our purpose is to help each other live with joy and love in our minds and to continue the advancements of scientific truth to uncover deeper meanings in this life. I believe that we can change what we believe as new information becomes clear and true to our minds. I believe in karma, right and good action will bring the same back into the world and negative action will bring that negativity into the world. Nothing is real until we decide that it is real. God is good, God is energy and love.
