Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. Maybe I'll do something like that.

That makes a lot of sense. I guess the thing I'm really worrying about right now is that because of a huge trip I'm going on in a week or two I'm going to be completely out of money. Or nearly.

I totally didn't just save your comment.

Thanks!

There's a good chance that you're right, haha.

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep all this in mind!

Anyone have a place where someone could try this game? It sounds cool!

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3207 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What are your thoughts on Inside Out?

I was really close to it, honestly. I wanted to cry but at the same time I didn't. Lol, I'm weird.

My driving personality force? Well dang, I'd just have to say it would have to do with something like how I want others to be happy and that makes me happy. I can't put a word to it right now, being 2 AM.

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What are your thoughts on Inside Out?

The move was so real. It made me think and it almost made me cry (which is saying something! I can usually hold myself together, but this one ruined me).

I, too, have been thinking about what drives me to do the things I do. I've been up to trying new things, among other things, after seeing the movie.

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What book has impacted you the most?

I recently finished 1984 for school. That book along with Fahrenheit 451 were big impacts on me because I read them just when I was starting to understand the world around me wasn't just High School, but other stuff too. But most importantly they taught about the dangers of specific censorship (or censorship in general). I learned a lot from those books.

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Where are you?

I live in a small-ish town in Michigan called Lapeer. I've been living here for a long time, but before that my family and I moved around a lot. I was born in Mena (?), Arkansas then moved to Memphis, Michigan. Moved to Alpena, Michigan (which was a tiny town somewhere IIRC). I want to visit there on my trip up north. From Alpena, I moved to Lapeer.

Mena is another place I want to see, but that would be a separate and more special trip. Anyone from that area here? What's it like?

Meetups. Ohh meetups. I never got to see any except for that single time that a bunch of redditors went to meet the frisbee guy. It was kinda funny and cool how they kinda made his day meeting him and stuff, but IMO reddit meetups are way too big. You'd see a hundred people and never know any of them. Hell, some of them might not even be from reddit. They might be there just because other people were congregating there. But I don't know a whole lot about meetups, so tell me if I'm wrong.

If Hubski had a meetup I'd go. Because Hubski is out of Michigan, I'd be able to get there easily. Assuming it's in Michigan.

When I got on Hubski, I acted as if the wheel was an upvote button. Accidentally shared a lot of posts right at first. But then again, that's not a bad thing.

Wanted to comment about this part:

have noticed that in my ~30k karma, it's 99% jokes and one-liners

I recently looked through my history and the only really upvoted posts were either agreeing with the viewpoint or making jokes like "Straight from the horse's mouth!" about a comment that was by a guy named thehorsesmouth.

I saw a few posts after the reddit influx. The thing about some people from reddit is that they try to turn other sites into reddit. That's not what we need. Hubski is different and for only being here for ~2 days, I already love it. I agree with your answer

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: High school graduate here, I'm stuck on figuring out what to do with my life!

Good advice! I was kinda stuck with that because I wasn't sure if I should (as I thought of it) "waste" my time trying to learn about things when I probably won't like it. I was considering getting an apprenticeship or something that would guide me. Make me learn that trade so I could do that and earn a living in the meantime of finding what I love. But I don't know if that's the best way, since that apprenticeship will take up all the time that I have pretty much.

I think I'll do a lot of research about careers, talk to my community college about stuff, and check out websites where I can learn courses for free. Thanks a lot!

My best buds and I are leaving for the Upper Peninsula in Michigan very soon, so that might help. Thanks!

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What is your favorite (or most looked forward to) movie of 2015?

Max, Mad Max, Inside Out, Jurassic World, and Tomorrowland were all my favorite movies that I can remember from 2015 so far. I work at a movie theater as well!

That makes a lot of sense! :) Find what you love first, I'll keep that in mind! :D

That's what happened in my online course in High School. No incentive besides "get it done so you can graduate". Thanks again!

Thanks! I'll check out the site. This is great advice!

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What upcoming video games are you looking forward to?

I got so immersed in Fallout 3 it wasn't funny. I got home from school and played it until bedtime. I was crazy about it. And all I did in the game was run around and exploring/looting places. I'm replaying the game now and I'm finding so many new things in it that I wonder sometimes how much of the game I missed.

Can't wait for the Boston! And new Power Armor! And-

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What upcoming video games are you looking forward to?

It's supposedly coming out in August for Android.

I have an iPhone and imo, it works better than my old Android phones. Both Androids had huge glitches with them. The second one I had somehow deleted it's own freaking serial number (or whatever it was, can't remember).

Fallout Shelter, however, is a fun game imo. I play it when I'm just sitting around doing nothing.

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3208 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What upcoming video games are you looking forward to?

Ohhhhh man I could go for HOURS talking to someone about Fallout 4. I'm so excited for EVERYTHING new in that game. I never know where to start and I never know where/when to end. My girlfriend and I are saving up to get a PS4 though, just because we could both play on the system.

I've been here for only ~24 hours and I'm pretty sure I know my way around a lot of the site. Explore, click the tabs at the top and the bottom and see where they lead you to. Test out following and filtering tags as well as other people. I just experimented and learned a lot about the site.

On reddit, if a post was more than 24 hours old, it was immediately buried by newer posts. I noticed this constantly, and I kinda got annoyed because even my very few posts were buried. On this site, it's very concentrated and slower paced. I can read and comment on things ~50 days old and people won't get upset at me.

Actually, I can read and comment on anything without people getting upset!

Thanks a lot for the advice! This is extremely helpful and it makes me feel even better about myself. I'll get to posting my story sometime soon!

Grimdark_Rainbow  ·  3209 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Is there anywhere I can submit my work and get critiqued on it?

Oh, alright! Should have read the markup tips better. Apologies!

This is such a great site for this, wow. Thanks!

As rd95 said below to follow the tag #writebetterdammit Honestly, I'd rather stay away from reddit for a little while so all that can cool down. I might just stay away in general. If I can't get help on it here, though, I'll go there! Thanks!
