Not a bit of sarcasm. There has been a massive increase in witches ever since those Harry Potter films and the same thing will happen with terrorists!

...Okay, yeah it was sarcasm. But, I'm surprised that you've met people carrying on that sentiment about Star Wars. I'm pretty sure the author of the article was joking, there were a couple lines that had me doubled over. Not a fleeting internet chuckle, but like honestly guffawing out loud. I've heard people attack the news, video games, television, or movies for somehow encouraging domestic terrorism through violence. But never the Star Wars franchise in particular.

I love this! I'm definitely about to go through the whole playlist. I think it's a mistake to believe that pop music can't possibly have depth and musical interest. However, it's a sentiment I hear expressed often. Especially by people who maintain that music is an important factor in their lives.

I don't think it need have anything to do with deflating classical music though. There's music to like or dislike in both genres. It just feels regressive and maybe a tad "high school" to me to try and bolster any corner of music at the expense of another.

Somewhat related, here's Nile Rodgers (pop genius and rhythm guitar legend) talking about some of the songs he wrote for Chic. There's some very jazzy chord progressions to be lifted from this dude.

This one's pretty awesome too

If you can find the time to learn, manual fire starting is one of the most satisfying skills one can pick up. I learned last summer and I can't even describe how awesome it felt to get those first little embers glowing, and coax them into a full-blown fiery existence. I felt connected with all of nature and my ancestors for just a brief second. Like being catapulted back thousands of years. I am Human, I make fire! Just a deeply moving experience. Perhaps not the most practical thing to know, but moving.
