I really enjoyed myself in the pages of Radium Baby though I found certain elements puzzling, for example, the game of hide and seek that was going on around the competition. I couldn't figure out if it just happened to be occurring at the same time as the Radium Baby competition or if it was supposed to reflect it in some way.

And the robots! I wish they had a larger presence in the story. Throughout the book there are these glimpses of the sinister nature of the universe the book houses and yet it felt like every time there was going to be a major revelation of that aspect the story went another way, perhaps for the sake of the child characters or the target audience. I really think that exploring those darker corners of that universe, counterbalanced with the buoyancy of Sam and some of the other characters would be a whole lot of fun.
