That's maybe what gets remembered but things were balkanized bullshit. I still have no fucking idea how people came to the consensus that the Smashing Pumpkins were a good idea. And then it just got worse until you were praying for death. Candlebox on one side, Barenaked Ladies on the other Type O Negative showing you that a band could be a corporeal soundtrack to The Crow, rap stopped rhyming yet somehow had Enya in it and fucking Moby did nothing but loop gospel for like five years and it was utterly inescapable. The only reasonable response was to open the wormhole and pull it shut behind you.
