Not even the Taiwanese are afraid of China. Their navy is centered on the carriers the Soviets couldn't afford to scrap. The only country China has ever successfully invaded is Tibet, and that's because Tibet thought they were at peace with China so expunged their military. China has never successfully invaded Vietnam.
