Thank you! I'm a bass player by birth :) but also play guitar. During COVID I got into synthesizers, so I could set up arpeggios and melodic lines that I could then play bass/guitar to. And yeah, I deeply love electronic music of many styles, as well as old school metal, punk, folk, ragtime, swing, jazz, Balkan, etc...

Since I haven't talked about my setup before, here's what I have settled on:

Computer - M1 Mac Mini, 2Tb internal, 2Tb external SSDs, 16Gb RAM, Logic Pro and Komplete Kontrol Ultimate 13 and the full Zero-G "Ethera" suite of instruments. I also use my iPad for Logic Remote, from time to time.

Audio Input - I have both a Focusrite Scarlett Solo and 4i4, but I tend to use the Solo more for input. Two KRK Rokit 5 monitors and Sennheiser headphones are connected to the Scarlett for sound output.

Keyboards - Native Instruments S49 MkII, Novation Bass Station II, Waldorf Blofeld keyboard. I also have an M-Audio 61 key MIDI keyboard that I used for just straight MIDI, until I got the S49. (Need to replace the S49 with the 61-key version. 49 keys is just too small.)

Guitars - Fender Telecaster, Epiphone SG, Strandberg Boden 8-string, Applause acoustic, Kala ukulele.

Basses - Fender Jazz, Dingwall D-Roc, Fender Mustang short-scale, Thompson custom 6-string, and a punk-rock Frankenbass made from various parts.

The stuff that I need to change: Larger NI keyboard (61 or 88 keys) is critical. There are so many instruments in the Native Instruments ecosystem that use triggers around C1, and modifiers around C-2... which you can't reach on the 49-key version. Also, I want to get into learning two-handed piano playing, and 49 keys is just too tight to be comfortable for me. I'm debating about adding a Maschine Micro, to get the drum pads that are missing from the NI keyboards...

I'm still looking for my original Dingwall AB-II 5-string I had custom-made by Dingwall about 15 years ago. I had to sell it to pay bills at one low point in my life, and now I am looking for the current owner so I can buy it back from them. (Serial number 3542)

And I am waiting impatiently for Native Instruments to update their Komplete package to fully support Apple's new M1 architecture. Most of it kinda works right now, but key things are still lacking... the transport buttons on the keyboard don't work with Logic, the Massive X synthesizer doesn't work on the M1 architecture, and there are weird things that don't quite work right. They are about to release Massive X, so that'll fix a big hole in their Komplete package.

I'm also hoping for Apple to finally pin down and solve the Bluetooth issues on the M1 Macs. Tired of weird mouse scrolling and keyboard repeating issues.

But yeah ... that's kinda the whole shebang!

(And yeah, I know... I'm a middle-aged tech dude with almost no expenses and a great salary, going through a mid-life thing, and buying ridiculous musical equipment to feed the need. I'm VERY privileged/lucky/fortunate, and I know it. It's honestly why I don't talk a lot about my full music setup... it's quite ridiculous.)
