"... by the consent of the governed ..." That's the phrase the Republicans have never understood, and why this administration will fall before this time next year. Our Nuremberg Trials may have even begun by then... Anyway, the Federal government is a convenient fiction that people use to absolve themselves of responsibility for their actions. "Well, Federal Regulations say you have to X, Y, Z, so I can't provide you with ______ ." We have already seen individuals in power - police chiefs, mayors, governors, etc. - refusing to comply with orders "from above". Magnify that. Once you have 20% of the population passively ignoring federal orders, statutes, regulations, what-have-you, the whole house of cards comes tumbling down.
