I knew this wasn't going to work. People say "human nature" is a clichéd argument to the max but so much of the capitalist system is people grinding to get that senior position. You can lose a lot of that motivation if the barrier to entry is low and you start off making crazy money. Not to mention that part of what also gets you the FU money is the fact people are dedicating years, sometimes decades of their life to a business. Part of what keeps that going is the company adjusting salaries to maximize the grind and profitability. Sure, it's not California style but $70k is a lot in most of the world.
