Aha, gotcha.

So here's my opinion: it's far, far easier to find the weird world now than it was when you were 19. Now? Now it goes "viral." Back then? You had to look in the back of The Stranger, buy a ticket to Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Animation Festival, herf your way down to the college and sit there for two hours with other weirdos. And god help you if you lived four hours away from the nearest moderately-sized college campus.

That was the cool thing about Liquid Television - it was Spike&Mike on MTV. But I mean, shit, son, Heavy Metal ran on HBO. Even my pissant tiny little video store had a copy of Fantastic Planet.

You are now aware that the kid from Lost In Space sang "Fish Heads" on that Dr. Demento tape you had.

Here's Andy Warhol being pointless and strange in '66.

And here's Bunuel being weird in '29.

If generations before yours did it, it's art. If your generation did it, it's culture. If the generation after yours did it, it's degenerate.
