My best guess is that there is a personality type that really takes the 'all publicity is good publicity' thing to heart. This type of person looks at the current situation in the white house and sees opportunity. Not for long term growth and development, but if they play a few good hands and bail fast, a relative nobody could suddenly find themselves moving in the same circles as real movers and shakers. High risk, also potentially super high reward if you can collect the right level of salary for a few weeks/months, get some big titles on your resume and manage to dodge criminal charges or at least the most grievous criminal charges.
