So the other week, I went on a mini road trip with one of my friends. They know how much I love music, so they put together two play lists for me. The first one was full of classic Western Swing, which was a bunch of songs they figured I'd enjoy, and they were right.
The second though was a theme called "Worship Songs for a Unitarian Service" which were a collection of songs that were as overtly spiritual as possible while remaining as remotely deist as possible. They picked out some good bits of folk music from some pretty esoteric artists, the kinds of artists that if you listened to them on the regular you'd probably find people like Gillian Welch or Cherish the Ladies too mainstream. Anyhow, there was one song that stood out from this crowd, this classic little song, which probably a lot of people know . . .
It's been in my head ever since.
