Yes. The poorer people are the people who are forced to work in the stores on Black Friday. That whole Black Friday issue is a different kettle of fish entirely. It's not a good example of what the author is trying to portray. I agree with her point, but I've seen other writings that portray the issue better. Articles that show how some people are treated badly because they have a cell phone, for example, and therefore are not "poor enough" get the point across more vividly. That's social shaming on a more constant basis.And hell, most of the poorer people I know can't stake out those sales, because they couldn't get off of work, because it was Black Friday.
