#1. What is an important lesson I've learned from Hubski?

Personal Content Isn't A Sin (and you shouldn't feel guilty about it) - One of only 2 posts I have stickied, I keep it permanently stickied to remind me every day.

Not too long ago I was feeling embarrassed by the frequency of my Facebook posting (1x a day if I am being talkative). Then I thought, "Sure, so lots of people like to comment they don't post on Facebook because it's so done, but...if no one ever posted anything Facebook would be boring as shit." Websites like Facebook and Hubski need content creators to continue to exist successfully. And people should feel free to share meaningful things they've created with people who might enjoy them, or with people whom they care about and want to share bits of their life with. Toot your own god-damn horn. Maybe someone will like it.

(Hubski has also taught me that more people enjoy and like to read my poetry than I dimly expect.)

#2. What do I get out of Hubski the most?

I am here for and because of the Hubski community and relationships that have developed through my time here. I am not in as frequent touch, or just don't see as much from, all of the users I care about as I used to be, but that is okay. That's life. But what I get out of Hubski is a bunch of people I care about and respect and with whom I want to share my life, my successes and my pitfalls. I want to see their lives. I want to meet up with them and have navel-gazing conversations until last call in strange bars in cities I don't live in. I want to hear about their amazing projects, passions, family lives, romantic lives, and so on. What I "get" from Hubski is a community of generally very brilliant, talented, driven, and/or otherwise super admirable people who I'd never have gotten to know otherwise, and have hands-down the best pseudo- or truly-intellectual conversations of most of my friends when we get together in person too. What drives people to comment and discuss on Hubski is very present when you remove the screen too: inquiring, interested, intelligent minds. So many people on Hubski are truly exceptional in some way. I'm sure it is statistically aberrant. It is also great.

And I also really appreciate how many people here like and want to talk about poetry, even though that's an admittedly smaller subset of the population.
